The foundations for Wally's work today were laid as a ‘designer maker’ of jewellery in the 1970s and 1980s.

"I think of jewellery both as a vehicle for expression as an 'artist' and as an adornment that only truly comes to life when worn.

Wally’s jewellery is held in many public collections in Britain and America and has been exhibited internationally, including the V&A Museum and solo shows at Electrum gallery in London and Robert Lee Morris’ Artwear gallery in New York. He has also been recognized with several awards.

In 2009 4 pieces of jewellery including the steel, silver and gold collar on the left were acquired by the Museum of Art and Design in New York.

“'The strength of [Wally’s] approach to his work lies in the uncompromising application of effort through both design and making skills, to achieve his uniquely detailed and highly individual style. He does not allow his imagination to be fettered by the difficulties of execution.” Martyn Pugh, Chairman of the British Jewellery Association (BJA), 2007
